PCMD COMPOUND BANK

The first Compound Bank of Pakistan was established at Dr. Panjwani Center for
Molecular Medicine and Drug Research to collect and organize the wealth
of natural and synthetic compounds which are isolated and synthesized at the
International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and other collaborating
institutions.

Objectives:
The objectives of the PCMD Compound Bank are:
-
To support the drug related research at the center
-
To manage the in vitro/ in vivo assays for various biological activities
-
To apply advanced software tools to organize the structural and biological data
-
To organize and preserve the compounds library into a 96-well plate format for High Throughput Screening (HTS) and for future use.
The Classical Research Process Designed for High Throughput Screening

PCMD compounds library in 96- well plate format

LIQUIDATOR 96
Manually operated 96-channel pipetting device

Micro plate Centrifuge and Concentrator

The main activities of the Compound Bank include:
-
Compounds are received from ICCBS and other institutions, along with sample submission forms
-
Quantity, purity, and authenticity of samples are checked by physical parameters
-
Compounds entry record is maintained into various categories, depending on source and structural types, and arranged for various types of biological screenings.
-
Biological activity results are compiled, and communicated to the sample providers
