EQUIPMENT:

The diagnostic laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies. Brief description of some of the equipment is given below:

Flow Cytometer:

This is a latest and highly advanced technique and hallmark of molecular diagnosis. It utilizes spectacular combination of laser illumination and fluorescent dyes to target the intra and intercellular molecular structures and events taking place in various biological events and depiction of these complex events into a comprehensive digital data display  by incorporating highly advanced software. This technology  has  wide  array of  applications  in  numerous  pathological  situations, like  identification  of T-Helper cells to monitor course and treatment of HIV infection, determine DNA content of tumor cells which can help assessing treatment and prognosis of breast cancer and other malignancies,  tissue matching for organ transplantation procedure, identification of Hematopoietic stem cells and other important stem cells separation of x and y chromosomes to be utilized for in vitro human fertilization and selective animal breeds and much more.
We have acquired BD FACS Calibur, 4 color fluorescence  which is most advanced and latest kind of flow cytometer only used by few centers in the world.

Cytovision:
This is the equipment used in  another remarkable technology, called FISH (Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization) technology which makes the molecular diagnosis of diseases a colorful and crystal clear at genetic level so much so that it is possible to actually visualize an individual mutant gene (e.g. causing leukemia) and paint it in to a spectacular color by using fluorescence DNA probe  while the gene is  still intact to its respective chromosome (in situ) and making exact and precise diagnosis of Leukemias and other malignancies and progress of therapy in that conditions. It has numerous other applications including prenatal diagnosis of inheritable disorders.

Gamma Counter:

This instrument can detect level of radiations in the human body in situations where a person is exposed to radiation for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Hematology Analyzer:
This is four differential  hematology analyzer, fully automated  capable of  fast analyzing all the cellular parameters from whole blood sample and gives overall picture about the health status of a person.

Hitachi Chemistry Analyzer:

This is a fully automated of computerized chemistry analyzer, programmed with a robust comprehensive panel of 250 parameters of serum chemistries on 58 subjects at a time with great precision and accuracy in a matter of  a minute.

Fluorescence Microscope:

This microscope is Nikon’s TE-2000E fully motorized  fluorescence microscope available in the high resolution digital imaging and immunocytochemical facility associated with the diagnostic laboratory on the same floor. The microscope has provisions of multi channel fluorescence, bright field microscopy, differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy, deconvolution microscopy and total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy.
