ANIMAL HOUSE
FACILITY

The mission of the Animal Resource Facility (ARF) is to
facilitate animal use in research at the ICCS, University
of Karachi by providing high quality animal care in accordance
with Institutional regulations and guidelines. This large
two- floor animal house of the ICCS supports various research
programs in the research areas of Pharmacology, Microbiology,
Biochemistry, Molecular Medicines, Toxicology, etc.
Space is available for housing guinea pigs (14), mice (900),
rats (1000) and rabbits (20). These animals are maintained
and bred at ARF of ICCS. Animal procedure rooms for investigator
use are available in the newly added floor.

It also provides information to investigators and their
staff regarding the humane care and use of animals involved
in research at ICCS. The Animal Resource Facility (ARF) provides
daily animal care for the animal facility. This facility
is designed and operated to ensure all animals are housed
appropriately and humanely while providing maximal protection
for the animals against contamination.
