He received his Ph.D. in Biophysics at Moscow State University (Russia) and Doctorate in Biochemistry at Bach Institute of Biochemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow(Russia) . He is Head of Biophysics Laboratory at the Institute of Botany, Azerbaijan National Academy of Science since 1969 He has additionally served as Deputy-Director of the same Institute (1984-1996) and Director of Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (1996-1998). He was a Visiting Investigator at the Department of Plant Biology, Carnegie Institution, and Department of Biophysics Illinois University (1973-1974), and at the Institute of Biochemistry, University of Dusselldorf, Germany (1990) . He was a Visiting Professor at Institute of Biology NSCR ” Demokritos”, Athens, Greece (1998) and at Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan (2000-2001) He has supervised 15 Ph D (many of them at present are working at reputable laboratories of the world) and many M.D students at Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and Baku State University (Azerbaijan) He is a member of many International Scientific Societies and of the Advisory Board of Turkish Journal of Botany. He was awarded many International Research Grants, such as ISF-1994; NATO-1995-1996; European Commission (EC) –INCO “Copernicus”-1997-2000; EC INTAS -2002-2004.

D. in Chemistry from University of St. Andrews, Scotland, UK. He was a Professor of Industrial chemistry and Director of Oil Testing Center at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals from 1977 – 2005. He was a Visiting Professor at the Chemistry Department, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA from 1983 to 1984. His research interests include chemistry of petroleum refining, petroleum residua upgrading, catalysis, depolymerization reactions and chemical recycling of plastics, development of new technology and methods for coal liquefaction, chemistry of environment and biotechnological processes for the refining of petroleum. He has authored over 120 technical publications, presentations, and project reports. He also authored two books. He reviews proposals and manuscripts for American Chemical Society, Elsievier and other international publishers. He is on the editorial board of two top energy journals and a member of American Chemical Society, ASTM and Institute of Petroleum, London, UK.

Dr. Kazmi is an Inorganic Chemist. He had his early education from Karachi obtaining a Master's degree in Chemistry from the University of Karachi. He did his doctoral research at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, USA under superviosion of Prof. E. S. Gould. As a Postdoctoral visiting Scientist, he has doen research at the University of Maryland and University of Illinois, USA.He has over 50 publications and has presented papers at number of meetings. His main interests include Kinetics and Mechanisms of Inorganic Reactions with particular reference to bioinorganic systems involving iron transport, uptake and utilization.

Dr. Niazi has over 35 years of worldwide experience in managing multidisciplinary research and teaching in the field of pharmaceutical and biotechnology sciences. He has published over 100 refereed research articles and abstracts, dozens of books, both technical and literary including several textbooks. He is a recipient of several research recognition awards. He is a licensed practitioner of patent law before the US Patent and Trademark Office and serves the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry and academia in the transition of research ideas into useful technology. Dr. Niazi holds several major US and worldwide patents for his inventions and writes in the fields of philosophy, sociology, rhetoric and poetry; he is the author of the first book on clinical pharmacokinetics and the largest work on pharmaceutical manufacturing formulations and also on the manufacturing of therapeutic proteins.

Research interests include purification and characterization of biologically active proteins (e.g. industrially important enzymes) and peptides (e.g. peptidyl inhibitors of ion channels and peptidyl antibiotics) from diverse origin. Current research activities are also focussed on establishing the clinical, pharmacological and structural data-sheets on animal envenomation (mainly snakes and scorpions) in Pakistan, as well as mechanism of action of purified toxins using different proteomics and bioinformatics tools.

My group is interested in the studies related to the structure, function, informatics and engineering of proteins; the executioner of life processes.We utilise experimental methods (Protein Chemistry, Spectroscopy andMolecular Biology) as well as knowledge-based computational techniques(Bioinformatics and Molecular modeling) to answer questions regardingstructure-function relationships in proteins.We have studied structural biology and bioinformatics of proteases andtheir regulatory components with especial reference of the Proteosome; the intracellular protein degrading machinery [Azim, MK, Protein Sci.,2005;Azim, MK, Protein J., 2007].We are investigating proteins-peptides present in natural honeyObtained from different geographical regions of Pakistan [Azim, MK, Phytotherapy Res., 2007] as well as proteins that play vital roles in normal physiology and pathogenecity of infectious bacteria (Vibrio cholerae, Niesseria maningitidis and Staphylococcus aureus).

Research focuses on computational chemistry and computer-based drug design specifically in areas of pharmaceutical and biomedical importance such as ligand-based drug design, protein flexibility and solvation effect in drug designing, ligand-protein and protein-protein interactions, designing of new bio-active molecules using computer aided modeling and ligand and structure based pharmacophore techniques. His research group specialize in molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, molecular docking, solvation energy, free energy of binding, QSAR, pharmacophore studies, in silico screening methods and ab initio calculations.

Dr. Redhwi is the Assistant Supervisor for Dhahran Techno-Valley and also a Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia. During his professional career spanning more then twenty-five years, he has been active in research and teaching in the field of Petroleum Refining and Polymer Degradation. Dr. Redhwi's main contribution in the last seven years is in establishing an entrepreneurial culture in the University where he is involved in Dhahran Techno-Valley and establishment of Science Park. He was also involved in the establishment of research programs that became the areas of excellence for KFUPM. The projects resulting from these programs generated multi million US $ funding for KFUPM from industrial clients, such as, Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Nippon oil, Japan, Ciba Chemicals, Switzerland, etc. He was Visiting Scholar at, The University of Connecticut, USA, during 1991 & 1992. He was also Affiliate Professor, Petroleum Engineering, School of Mineral Engineering, University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), Alaska, USA, 1996-1997. Dr. Redhwi is the member of United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) since 1998 where he is involved in panel following up on Montreal protocol regarding ozone depletion and effect on materials.
