Workshop Facility

Various workshops of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences comprised on different technical departments, maintenance units, and manufacturing plants. These sections are serving the ICCBS institutions day and night and are helping in the smooth running of research and development activities. Some of the major technical department are described below:
Engineering Department.

As the institute is running a large number of sophisticated and modern electronic instruments, which are the necessary part of the chemical analysis, there is a need of regular and quick service of these sophisticated instruments. The engineering department in involved in the service, maintanence and repair of these electronic instruments.

(d) GLASS BLOWING WORKSHOP

ICCBS has a modern glassware manufacturing unit which manufacture and repair various types of common and specialized glassware for scientific experimentation. This includes ground-glass joint and condensing glassware.

CRYOGENICS FACILITY

(a) LIQUID NITROGEN PLANT

ONE LINDE 10 L/H PRODUCTION PLANT.
TWO LINDE 27 L/H PRODUCTION

The Liquid nitrogen plant (Linit-10) installed at the center is modern and modular designed equipment using cryogenics as refrigerating source. As no external refrigeration is used, air itself acts as refregent. The liquid nitrogen generated by the plant contains upto 0.3 % oxygen. The dispencing pressure of liquid nitrogen is between 1.0 to 3.0 Kg/cm3 this liquid nitrogen is used by various researchers of the institute.

(b) LIQUID HELIUM PLANT

ONE LINDE 6 LIQUIFICATION PLANT.

The liquid Helium plant (TCF-20) is installed at the center as aprt of the workshop. It has a production capacity of 6 lit/hr. Its main purpose is to produce liqid Helium for various nuclearmagnetic resonance instruments.

DISTILLATION UNIT

Distilation assembly has been installed in the workshop of the institute. This unit is used to produce different commercial solvents and it distills 50 L to 200 L capacity. The purity of the end product is 99% which are used in chemical and biochemical experimentations.
